Editorial Statement for the First Issue of JHSMR – JHSMR 2018

Editorial Statement for the First Issue of the Journal of Health Science and Medical Research (JHSMR)

Jitti Hanprasertpong, M.D.

Editor-in-Chief,
Journal of Health Science and Medical Research

The Songklanagarind Medical Journal (SMJ) has been serving Prince of Songkla University for more than 3 decades as a visibility media for academicians and researchers in the medical field, not only within the university but also the whole country. Our ranking in the first tier in the Thai Citation Index calls for the further journey of the journal to a new position, growing along with the recent revolution in the research and innovation landscape in Thailand.1 As Prince of Songkla University changes its position to be a lead player in the national research and innovation arena, the time has come when it is appropriate for the Journal to also expand its outlook, and become a window for Thai researchers to network among international researchers with its new brand 'Journal of Health Science and Medical Research' (JHSMR).

Apart from extending its target readers, JHSMR aims to expand its scope from medical field research to include works in all the health sciences, from biomedical science, biomedical engineering, clinical medicine, and medical innovation to public health. This rebranding process not only sets the new name, but also gears for a high-standards editorial process in terms of transparency and scientific value. JHSMR aims to be listed in databases with high visibility in the near future. With this strong commitment, the Journal hopes for contributions from international authors and readers to be with us in this big leap.

As the editor-in-chief of JHSMR I should like to take this opportunity to welcome all new authors in my sincere hope that they will use this Journal to communicate ideas to readers and/or researchers in the medical and health sciences field.
